Originally built in 1949 as the Beverly Carlton, Avalon was completely redesigned for its 1999 reopening. The property is comprised of three unique buildings, each with distinctive qualities. The main Olympic building hosts the hourglass pool, fitness center and blue on blue restaurant and bar, as well as 43 guestrooms and suites. The taller Beverly building features expansive views of the neighborhood, and 26 rooms and two studio penthouses. In the Cañon building are 15 rooms, four with private patios and eight with kitchenettes. Adjacent to the Cañon building are the Cañon Villas luxury residences with private patios.
Guestrooms:
Avalon Hotel's three buildings feature 84 rooms, suites and penthouse studios with an array of spaces, floor plans and views. The hotel, designed in entirety by Kelly Wearstler, Inc., offers guests a home away from home that echoes the relaxed "patio lifestyle" of mid-20th-century Southern California. Details include George Nelson lamps, Isamu Noguchi tables, chairs inspired by Charles Eames and comfortable beds with Italian linens.

All accommodations provide an ideal atmosphere for relaxation. In addition, two luxury residence rentals - the Cañon Villas - are available on a monthly basis. Each villa includes two bedrooms, living room with gas fireplace and media center, a large dining room, full kitchen, a DSL-connected office, secluded two-car parking, and full access to all Avalon Hotel amenities.

Blue on blue offers fine dining, a full bar and the ideal setting for business or pleasure. Seasonal menus offer the freshest and most flavorful ingredients available.

The "Blue Avalon," blue on blue's signature drink, is a blend of coconut rum, pineapple juice, Blue Curacao and Sprite, served in a martini glass.

Recreation:
The Fitness Center, with cardiovascular equipment and free weights, is open 24 hours per day. The vintage hourglass-shaped swimming pool, nestled in the hotel courtyard between the lobby and the restaurant, is open from 9 am to 6 pm. Restaurant and bar service are available poolside.
Meetings and Private Events:
The newly renovated Avalon Conference Room accommodates up to 22 guests conference style, or up to 40 guests theatre style. It features a mahogany oval conference table, Eames-inspired conference chairs and plush carpeting. Ample windows provide natural lighting. Internet, 42" plasma screen with DVD/VCR connections, telephone, computer and audio-visual equipment are available for a fee.

The Penthouse Terrace, with its rooftop views and garden setting, is an excellent location for receptions and cocktail parties. Rented in tandem with the two penthouse suites, the Terrace can accommodate up to 75 people.

Continental breakfast, buffet lunch, cocktails and room service from blue on blue are available in the Conference Room and the Penthouse Terrace.
